Future Merchant Design Lab Joined Automotive Engineering Exposition 2019

2019.05.31

Future Merchant Design Lab, a specialized theme laboratory of Rakuten Institute of Technology (RIT)  that works on innovative strategies related to experience design for shopping, participated in a special exhibit at the Automotive Engineering Exposition Yokohama 2019 from May 22-24.

In a collaboration with Zootie, the University of Aizu and Nissan, Future Merchant Design Lab conducted a demonstration of our Remote Fashion Communication Vehicle to deliver a next-generation shopping experience. The Remote Fashion Vehicle offers a futuristic experience with shop staff who can give styling recommendations and help customers make purchases remotely through digital signage.

The exposition is the largest in Japan for automotive engineers. With approximately 96,000 visitors this year, we were excited to share our findings with a wider audience and to interact with others committed to using digital technology to imagine and transform societal infrastructure.

Rakuten and RIT will continue to pursue digital solutions to solve constraints of the offline shopping experience and in other fields as well.
