RIT’s Yeongnam Chae gives “AI for Visual Recognition in Rakuten” talk at AI SUMMIT Seoul

Principal Research Scientist at RIT, Yeongnam Chae, presented at this year’s AI Summit in Seoul. The AI Summit is the largest AI conference in Asia designed to raise awareness of the latest evolution of AI and various use cases where AI has been implemented.  This year’s program featured many AI experts and focused on how AI is changing the business terrain with technologies such as autonomous-driving, computer vision, face recognition, and robotic process automation (RPA). The summit was held over two days from November 28-29.

Dr. Chae’s talk, “AI for Visual Recognition in Rakuten”, introduced several cases where RIT is employing visual recognition and AI to connect with Rakuten’s business trajectory. Among such cases includes a seamless payment system using facial recognition to attend baseball games and streamline online shopping.

Chae met with AI leaders from various domains including autonomous driving, entertainment, sports, and IT. Given the the extraordinary moment of technological history we are currently living through, the summit was a great opportunity to share ideas about innovation and an AI-enabled future.
