SPIRE 2017 (the 24th International Symposium on String Processing and Information Retrieval) and WCTA 2017 (the 12th Workshop on Compression, Text and Algorithms) were held at Eurostars Centrale Palace in Palermo, Italy from 26-29 September 2017.

Our paper “Faster Practical Block Compression for Rank/Select Dictionaries” proposed an efficient implementation of rank/select dictionaries that underlie recent research on computation over compressed data.
