ICCE 2018

2018.01.23

ICCE 2018 was held January 12nd – 14th, 2018 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, the United States.ICCE is the established forum for innovative research in all areas of consumer electronics and is co-located with the CTA’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). CES is world’s largest consumer electronics trade-conference.

Yeongnam Chae, a research scientist of Rakuten Institute of Technology attended and presented his research paper at this conference. He authored the paper “Color Navigation by Qualitative Attributes for Fashion Recommendation” with researchers, Jiu Xu, Bjorn Stenger and Soh Masuko. This paper proposed a novel method to navigate a color palette via an attribute-based query.By interpolating the path between input color and target color in polar coordinates, the attribute-based query is converted to a query vector in the lab color space. By measuring the distance between candidate color and query vector with the proposed distance measure, we navigate on the JIS color palette. We validated the proposed model in a user study. In the future we consider expanding the navigation from a single to multiple target colors simultaneously.

Furthermore, Daniel Crane a research scientist of Rakuten Institute of Technology attended and presented his research paper at the same conference. He authored the paper “Image Placement Order Optimization for Mobile Commerce” with researchers, Yeongnam Chae, Bjorn Stenger and Soh Masuko. This paper proposed a novel method to optimize the image placement order based on the attractiveness to the customer for m-commerce.We generated an unsupervised hierarchical clustering model that can classify an image’s leave rate at a given position through visual similarity to other images.
